This poignant rendering of a child prevented from joining her class at recess is timeless. The artist, Jessie Wilcox Smith, was one of the greatest American magazine illustrators, working in the early 20th century. The original of this print appeared in Collier's Magazine in 1904.
It is in soft black and white, with just a order bit of yellow coloring the garment under the child's head. The print size is 8'' by 11;" including the lovely silver frame, the overall size is 19" by 15." There is glass.
Condition is excellent. The print, mat and frame are perfect; there is some tearing of the paper on the back.
