An antique KPM porcelain egg cup with attached underplate, all handpainted with scattered flowers and a gold filigree border. Three different flower sprigs grace the sides (shown in the first 3 photos). The under plate has a scalloped edge and swirled ridges, the latter of which also swirl ever so faintly around the cup.
It is stamped on the bottom with the KPM (Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur) mark in red, used from 1832-1892, as well as the blue Scepter Berlin mark used between 1870 and 1945. There is also what appears to be a hand painted painter's mark, and a very order faint, tiny impressed mark, the meaning of which I do not know. Please see photos.
An exquisitely fine piece for the KPM or eggcup collector, or for any lover of hand painted German porcelains.
Size: 4" diameter x 2-3/8" high.
Condition: Excellent. No chips, cracks, fleabites, nor any loss to the paint or gilding.
