-Huipils are made of separate panels of hand-woven fabric, joined together to form a rectangle. It is then embroidered, folded, sewn at the sides, and a space for the head is cut out.

-The huipil can usually be worn with either face to the front. Front and back are often exactly the same, or with a small difference in pattern or color.

-Huipils are often filled with important symbolism that, for generations, tell the story of the town where it was created and worn. They are proudly worn by Mayan women today throughout the Guatemalan highlands.
