A thing of beauty, and a work of art....
Early Coro pieces were usually Art Deco style with pavé-set clear rhinestones. But the order company's biggest hit was its figural Duettes, which were shaped like flowers, animals, and human characters, decorated with brightly colored enameling and crystal rhinestones, and often sold with matching earrings. Especially popular with collectors are more complicated pieces such as the “Quivering Camelias” Duette, which features trembler flowers on springs. Adolph Katz, Coro's chief designer in the 1930's and 1940's, came up with the "Trembler" brooches and duettes, which are highly sought after today.
This "Quivering Camellia" brooch for sale is very rare and stunningly beautiful. A gold flower sits atop a silver body, encrusted with tiny diamante rhinestones, 2 elongated green enameled leaves. The stamen inside the flower is made up of sapphire blue baguette stones and slightly larger crystal rhinestones. Signed Coro in script.
Rollover C-clasp
Just over 2 1/2" long and 1 1/2" wide
gently used - a couple tiny rhinestones have yellowed slightly. otherwise great
