This book was self-published and my dedication to preserving the history of the highly collectible metal statuary known as Frankart, created here in the US in the early 20th century in the heart of the Art Deco movement. From research gleaned through original trade catalogs, interviews, government records, genealogy websites and much more, this soft-cover book features 275 pages full of photos (mostly in full color), articles, original product advertisements and descriptive text that chronologically follow the inception, design, company formation and success of Frankart products from 1921 until the company went out of business in 1961. Learn the facts about Arthur Von Frankenberg; the original creator, Henry Underberg; the businessman and Frankart co-founder, George Murad; moldmaker and eventual corporation owner as well as Von Frankenberg's muse and figure model Leone Osborne. There are well over 220 original color photos and black & white scans of the actual Frankart model numbers with the focus on those that were produced up through 1930 before Von Frankenberg lost his stake in the company as the result of a lawsuit with his partners. The book goes on to describe Von Frankenberg's formation of order a new company (Quoizel) while his ex-partners, Underberg and Murad, continue to run Frankart, Inc. Ultimately both the men and the companies they founded eventually pass away, but leaving a legacy in sculptured artwork that is highly collectable today.
