Here's a very nice quality 3 piece men's suit made in a greenish gray Glen check wool. The jacket has high set lapels and a three button front. The shoulders of the jacket are padded and the lapels are, as mentioned, quite narrow and high-set - this is a lapel style typical of the early 60s that was seen used by British rock groups during the "British Invasion". The sleeves have a three buttons at the cuff. There is a flapped pocket at either side, and a pocket at the left breast. The order jacket has a double vent/flap at the back and is fully lined with a paisley fabric except for the lower back. It has two interior pockets. The pants have a flat front (no pleats) and a tapered leg with cuff at the bottom. The waist has a matching belt. The vest has four pockets and a five button closure. It is lined in striped fabric on the interior and paisley fabric matching the lining of the jacket on its back. Please ignore the creasing to the suit - I wasn't able to get it pressed for the photographs. There is no label.
Color: Greenish gray with blue and amber brown cross stitching (see close-up photo)
Material: Lightweight wool, very nice quality
Sizing: No size is indicated, but this should fit a medium size, probably size 40 - please rely on the following measurements for fit, taken from the exterior (please take the thickness of the fabric and the cut of the garment into consideration):
Jacket:
Shoulders: 17" across shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam
Sleeves: 25" from shoulder seam
Sleeve Inseam: 16" long
Chest: 44" around, taken under the arms
Waist: 41"
Overall length: 31", measured flat
Pants:
Waist: 34" but can be cinched down with the belt
Length: 38"
Leg Inseam: 28"
This suit is in great condition with no wear, tear, stains or odors except for a pinhead sized hole on the back of right sleeve, 7 1/2" from the cuff. A tailor would be able to invisible mend this and it shouldn't cost too much as it is only 1/32" in diameter, probably between $40 and $65. The paisley back of the vest only has some color variation from top to bottom, but this is fairly minor. Otherwise, it looks like this suit saw little use and was very well kept over the years.
This is a wonderful suit from the early 60s......quality fabric, great styling......hard to find suits like this in such nice condition....I've priced this at a level that allows the hole to be mended.
