This rolling pin is made as my father made them years ago...in a dusty wood shop on a wood turning lathe, the entire pin is shaped and finished by hand.
This solid wood rolling pin is made from two different types of wood glued together....maple (light wood) and purple heart (reddish darker wood).
The process of turning a rolling pin starts with a square wood blank made from glued up (laminated) slices of wood.
The square wood blank is turned into a cylinder using the wood lathe and multiple lathe turning tools.
The rolling pin is finished using multiple grades of sand paper, then a coat of mineral oil is applied to provide protection to the wood during use.
This hand crafted rolling pin should be hand washed following each use.
Apply food grade mineral oil as needed to keep rolling pin from drying out.
The photos show the rolling pin sitting on a countertop "rest", this "rest" is hand crafted and is sold order separately from the rolling pin.
Other materials: these rolling pins can be made from a variety of different hardwoods, please contact me for options in available wood types.
