Rare Vintage Metal Match order Holder Knife and Belt Motif

order Metal match holder with knife and belt motif. How cool is this!?! Beautiful old patina piece.
Heavy, used item. The small round cup would be to hold stick matches and the larger area would be to put the discarded matches (?). The knife design continues inside this area so it tell me that there is no missing piece. Maybe that's where you rest your pipe.

Some uneven finish/ loss of patina in areas. It looks like there used to be a bottom on it that rotted out or something and pieces that were attached to that bottom are missing. Look at the photos, please.
I'm telling you every issue that I found but it doesn't affect the beauty of this piece.
