Safely nested in branches, above the predators below, this mother egret's job is never done as dinner time quickly approaches. Egrets are commonly found along the coastal areas of Louisiana wading in the shallow waters of it's wetlands, marches and bayous. Egrets nest in colonies often on islands in the mangroves (a shrub or small tree that grows in coastal areas). When building nest in trees they form their nest from reeds, grasses, straw, and sticks but when forming their next on the ground their nests consist of a shallow hole lined with feathers and a rim of soil. The colonies provide protection from predators and the mangroves protect from mother nature.
I enjoy capturing a view that I would enjoy spending a couple of hours in front of, taking in all the flavor of my surroundings.
This is a giclee created from my original impasto oil painting. All of my paintings are painted in an impasto style (heavy texture) done in oil using palette knives. Giclee stretched over a .75" frame, using high quality archival inks and protected with a UV coating. Canvas wraps edge of frame and is back stapled. Image wraps around edge of canvas. Making this canvas ready to hang without a frame. Letter of authenticity will accompany the piece, should the giclee ever need an appraisal.
