-The paste stones are in a simple silver setting and a rope twist design. They are surrounded by a high relief swirl motif border and have granulated bead accents.
-The low relief portions of the design are darkened and create a unique contrast from the stunning silverwork and beautiful stones.
Damage: Age appropriate wear. The piece has some tarnishing, which we believe adds a lovely antique quality. These earrings are missing a couple of small granulated bead accents, however, this becomes less apparent when being worn and looks like it could be part of the design. However, the price has been reduced to reflect this.

The History
Mid Century jewelry was all about being big and bold in design and structure. This beautiful jewelry was inspired by the glamorous nature of the Hollywood regency era.
The Mid-Century Modernist style became a movement in art and jewelry in the 1940s, right after World War II, and peaked in the 1950s. The use of multi-colored metals became very popular due to wartime restrictions on certain materials; it was not uncommon to have brass, copper or gold-alloy accents with silver backgrounds. Mid-century Modernism is marked by clean lines and bold, abstract geometric shapes.
Rose de France is a special variety of amethyst. The color has a distinctive light purple or lilac hue with lovely pink undertones. This variation is hard to find and highly sought after. Traditionally, the term "Rose de France" referred to the style or design with pale purple amethyst stones, which were usually engraved with a crest or monogram. Over time the unique color of this variety of amethyst became associated with the term "Rose de France" and it is now referred to that way. (The stones in these earrings are paste stones made to emulate the Rose de France variety.)
