The USS Arleigh Burke DDG-51 is the lead ship of the Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyers. She was named after Admiral Arleigh A. Burke (1901-1996), who was present at her commissioning ceremony on Independence Day 1991.

Adam Koltz is a marine artist and 20 year Navy veteran aboard several classes of ships, including merchant vessels. Adam's attention to detail stems from his intimate knowledge of ships and his passion for accuracy. His understanding of the interaction of ships with the natural forces of wind and water gives his pictures life and vitality. Adam uses pen and ink, as well as watercolor, and depicts the ship or order boat on a chart with historical or current significance.
