The Helios 44-2 2/58 lens was produced as a standard lens for Zenit cameras. Its production ceased in the early 90s, but the lens has found acceptance among contemporary photographers. Despite the mass production, Helios has good optical characteristics. High quality shooting is possible thanks to precise control of aperture and sharpness.
Helios 44-2 swirls the background to create interesting bokeh for an emotional, lively look. The 8-blade diaphragm allows you to take a photo "airy", unlike others. Such a large number of aperture blades makes the bokeh circles smoother. With the help of the "correct" bokeh, they try to highlight the main subject of the shooting, and shade all the other details. At the same time, contrasting unsharp discs add their own flavor to the picture. Many people notice that with Helios it is possible to get bokeh that is superior in quality to that of a whale lens.
On a system with a cropped matrix, the viewing angle becomes narrower and the lens turns into a good high-aperture portrait lens. Helios 44-2 is a great budget choice for portraits - you get artistic shots with clear color reproduction, smooth background blur and bokeh effect. Features of the lens allow you to smooth out minor skin imperfections and make contrast-shadow transitions softer. In soft lighting, you can also achieve "airiness" in the frame. However, the Helios 44-2 can also be used when shooting landscapes where sharp detail is not needed.
