Woman resting below the Howrah Bridge taking a well earned break. She has her food in a stainless steel tiffin which she is about to open, A mini loaf of bread is next to her and she is interrupted by someone asking her something and her head is tilted towards the speaker. She is not very well off indicated by er lack of jewellery and footwear though she has some earrings. The picture is most arresting due to the high contrast of her outfit which is an Indian sari and blouse. She seems to be perched on a disused table on which a number 8 is stencilled using thumb tacks. The two toned box/seat makes the picture complete.
The order drawing is unframed and is done on 300 gsm cold pressed Bao Hong watercolour paper. It will be encased in a plastic. I generally do not put an protective fixative on the painting. To keep costs low this will be sent by Registered International Mail and it will reach you in 2-3 weeks time (depending on location). I will send it in a padded envelope and it will be protected.
COVID is ravaging the world and a second wave in India is particularly devastating. The next 6 months I propose to donate proceeds of the sale of this shop to Covid related charities through the GIVEINDIA portal. As in my previous paintings, I will donate proceeds after deducting ETSY fees and my material costs which roughly works to 10% to Etsy and 5%-8% to me. The rest will go to these Covid related initiatives. I will aggregate all sales, add cash contributions from benefactors and top up cash as needed during the donations.
