The ax head is based on the Early medieval Fransicsa ax, widely used in the period by the Franks, Vikings, Anglo Saxons, and order other groups throughout the Viking Age.
It is crafted with both traditional methods of forging and modern metalworking techniques.
Ax head is left with a generally rough finish, it is beveled and sharpened. The head is secured and fixed to the handle with an iron wedge and industrial glue or epoxy resin for maximum strength.
The ax comes with a sharp edge and it is intended as a decorative piece.
The handle is made of beech wood, it is fully covered in relief featuring original Norse patterns, with Vegvisir as the main motif, it also features runic rings and other ornamental patterns.
It is stained and finished with boiled linen seed oil and transparent varnish.
