Guardians of the Nettles, tasty and fresh, a funny bird, the goose, regal, yet silly!

"Guarding the nettles" is printed from 2 separate plates, the bottom plate is rolled up in the 3 different colors of blue, green and the yellow of the beaks, I roll up very freehand, so there are variations from print to print, no print is exactly like the next, something I hope you will appreciate as part of an original print. On top of this, I print the geese, they are actually 2 plates, with some smaller pieces of carved lino that I roll up in a dark green, that complements the print very well!
All my linocuts are handprinted by me, the artist, and I sign, title and number each print.
"Guarding the Nettles" is printed in a short edition of 75 prints,
please note, you might not receive the number seen in the photograph and there are minor color variations.

The linocut itself measures 13" x 22", (33cm x 56cm )
and the beautiful piece of clear and crisp white Zerkall
printmaking paper measures 25" x 17", (64cm order x 44cm)

Linocuts are wonderful graphic pieces of printmaking, that can make for a real focal point in your room, framing advice at the bottom of the page! Please note the home interior photo is not entirely to scale.

Just a little note and advice regarding framing:
Nice framing really enhances the look of an original print, it does not always have to be custom framing, many of my prints do fit standard frames. A general rule when framing prints, is that the paper should not touch the glass. Printmaking paper is porous as it is made to be moist when you print, so it needs room to breathe. This means you need a mat, or spacers. Usually the mats in standard frames don't fit, best thing to do is order a custom cut mat from a framer, if you go the DIY way. Also make sure the back, is closed with framing tape or similar so insects and dust can get in to the frame. If you take the print to a framer, ask him to use acid free materials, and you can then choose if you prefer without mat, and the framer uses spacers to keep the print off the glass. It can be so worth it to spend the money on a bespoke frame, as pretty framing really enhances the print!
