order An original vintage Spalding Official National League baseball from the period of 1936-1940. This style baseball was made when Ford C. Frick was the President of the National League. The sweet spot of the ball has text reading "Official National League" with the "Ford C. Frick" name printed underneath. The south panel of the baseball features the Spalding logo and trademark information. This particular style Spalding logo, along with the style of "Ford Frick" name date the ball to 1936-1940.
The baseball is still in very good overall condition for its age, but certainly does show some game use in its day. The hide is still intact with no scrapes, cuts, or gashes - only some mild surface wear from normal play including a couple very faint scuffs. The seams/laces are intact with no fraying or splits. The hide has a lovely natural patina to the surface adding to its vintage charm. The ball does have a couple patches that are lighter in color (don't have the same patina) - this is a result of the hide not oxidizing the same where the ball developed a few faint scuffs when played. The logo on the sweet spot and the Spalding logo are quite faint as a result of age and some play use.
Overall, a great vintage Official National League ball. A nice example of a single-season issue ball from the last year of Spalding's partnership.
