# Washing: Dry cleaning or washing machine

You can wash silk blankets in the washing machine according to the following instructions.
- Set a gentle wash cycle. Some machines even have separate settings for silk.
- Set the shortest spin time. Spinning silk bedding too long and too quickly can be very dangerous with this material. It has been shown to weaken silk fibers.
- Use only mild detergent and cold water to wash silk bedding in the machine
After washing, silk that is order not dried immediately can change its shape and lose its luster prematurely.
Do not dry silk in direct sunlight. Prolonged exposure to high temperatures and many harmful rays of sunlight can damage silk fibers or fade colors.
