58.5 inches. This strong staff is about 4.5 to 4.75 inches around at the neck at the 5 rings and leather area.

I have been fortunate to find more Ash over the last year or so. This piece was found off a back road in a thicker wooded area left pretty much untouched near a creek bank area I walk. Responsibly harvesting it left a little more room for other saplings around it to grow. I have worked it into a nice, smooth..but with texture you can feel, walking stick or staff with some whittling, sanding and finishing. The staff is strong and it widens just a bit as you get to top of staff giving it a nice look. Naturally grown by Mother Nature, then whittled, carved and finished by me, Johnny, or some call me Kentucky Johnny. I really enjoy working these pieces in to something that can be used for years and appreciated.

This walking stick had such a nice look with varying colors as I worked down the outer bark so I have carefully worked with and smoothed it leaving most of its natural look as I found it in tact. I've added a light gloss finish to order add a little shine to enhance the attractiveness of the wood and to add a little protection. I have also added 5 rings at the neck. It feels very comfortable holding your hand at the neck of the stick where the rings are located. And I have added a leather strap with a handmade deer antler bead made from a naturally shed deer antler.

This is a medium to heavier weight hiking stick for its height. The walking stick has such nice coloring and designs..along with some knots and rough areas that simply add to its character. Please be sure to look at the pictures. Colors range from beige to golds to browns with nice lines along the staff, natural and interesting.

This stick will assist you in various ways as needed and should not let you down.

I find the sticks I work with mainly on my hikes along bluffs, fence rows, wooded areas & along creeks. A lot of time and care goes in to each cane or walking stick and each one is unique. Great for your own use or will make a thoughtful gift. It can also be used as a prop for your play or program or you may have a special use in mind.
