This is gorgeous piece of nearly antique stoneware pottery in the best color green that reminds me of Celedon green. The interesting part about this larger vintage bowl with lid is that the lid can also be turned over and used as a 2nd bowl. I thought this was very handy. The piece reminded me of USA Pottery and several other US makers. I did not bother researching it until a few days ago and the mark is not from USA or McCoy or any of the "regular" potters we thought. We could find no concrete examples of anyone that has positively identified this mark which may be JAS or UAS. I think the last letter S is probably for "Stoneware" but still it did not help any with identification. I was going to put this away until I had more time but I have NO ROOM so it is a "mystery mark" unless someone has more info they would like to share.
Now for you decorators I loved the color so much I wanted to represent it perfectly, so I looked up the Pantone Color that matched it best and is 2404C (Hex #a5b99c). Our photos will show you how clean this piece is inside and out. Only a few popped pottery bubbles otherwise quite remarkable for a piece of 90 years of age. No chips, cracks, or repairs.
The Bowl with Lid stands 6" tall. The bottom bowl stands 3 1/4" tall with a 9 1/2" wide measurement across. The lid or 2nd bowl stands 3" tall.
Definitely pretty enough to display when not in use. Just order a really great looking piece of vintage pastel stoneware. c1930s.
Priority Shipping is included for our USA residents.
Note Last Photo with mark is brighter due to close up with flash. Other photos color is accurate.
