Product code: Southwestern Micaceous Bowl from New order Mexico

This bowl is traditional Pueblo style order in every way. The shape, the rim, the cut-mark incising around the shoulder of the bowl and the firing are all characteristics of micaceous-ware from the Taos Pueblo area. As far as size, it is 5 1/2" high and 7" in diameter. Because it was fired an a cedar wood fire pit there are varying shades of the orange micaceous clay plus shadows of black and distinct black burn marks both on the outside and the inside of the bowl. Finally, the cut marks that go around the bowl are markings seen on very old bowls. I did this as a way of honoring the old pottery makers and acknowledging their gift to me and all contemporary micaceous pottery makers. The outside was polished wi th river stones many times so it has a smooth finish and a wonderful patina.
