Product code: Elegant order Leadwood Cutting Board With Gold

Okupita Namibia is a small bush manufactory of cutting boards made from precious Namibian hardwood. Each cutting board is carefully handcrafted in limited edition (100/year) and a serial number is engraved.

This board is 50% off because it warped a bit due to its thinness. A (wet) kitchen towel underneath will reduce all wobble, though.

Leadwood (Combretum imberbe) gets its name from the fact that it sinks when put in water. It is one of the heaviest and hardest woods available.

This precious hardwood is extremely durable and difficult to work due to its extreme hardness.

We saturate our boards with a mix of vegetable oil and liquid wax, finally sealing them with our board wax made of bees wax, coconut oil and essential lemon oil.

All our cutting boards are one solid piece of wood.

Photos are colour-managed but colours may not appear correctly if your monitor is not calibrated. Please note that natural wood darkens with time.

All boards may be used from both sides, except order when rubber feet were added.

A wooden cutting board requires careful treatment and maintenance, we include detailed information.

If you have any questions, also about custom boards, please do not hesitate to contact us!

This cutting board with serial number CI004/2022 has the measurements of ca. 40 cm X 20 cm X 1.3 cm and a weight of ca. 1227 g. A cavity filled with food safe epoxy resin with gold flakes makes this board special.

Shipping is from Namibia via Express Mail Service (EMS) with tracking.

Sustainabilty: The tree grows in the central and northern parts of Namibia and is a protected and sacred species. We therefore source our wood from dead trees only. This wood species is not listed in the CITES Appendices and is reported by the IUCN as Least Concern.
