MADE TO ORDER La Befana witch in Christmas colours.
●These girls take a while so I'm taking orders now for Christmas....dolls will be sent end of November for the US and early to mid December for domestic orders.
Taking into account the international postage timeframe for Christmas arrival.
Please message me when you order and if you have a preference for a colour etc I will try my best to accommodate it.
The photos are of dolls made over the last year.
•Pictures are INDICATIVE of the doll you will receive, there are VARIATIONS in fabric and accessories.
•The faces will ALWAYS be different, every doll is a unique character. A real personality comes through for each doll.
I make many Befanas for kitchen witches and for christmas witches in traditional colours and costumes, so I decided to go with a total christmas theme then they can be used as a christmas decoration order and will be invited into someones home to help them celebrate the season for many years to come and keep older traditions alive.
I have lots of xmas fabrics of rich reds, gold, browns and greens to mix it up a bit.
There's detailed little wrapped presents, candy canes and a doll in the velvet toy sack and she holds a present in her lap with a "blessings" charm.
She's about 11" high from the top of her fuzzy head to the tip of her velvet slippered toe and the broom is usually around 11"-13".
She is a mix of tattered and crisp as she is a simple housewife and does not have much, she's wearing her best apron and slippers but her scarf, shawl and socks are well worn.
She also comes with a little handwritten scroll of the 'Befana' poem in both Italian and English, that either fits in her hand or on her lap with a present.
In Italian folklore old Befana is a benevolent witch who brings good children treats and gifts...or coal to the naughty ones, on the morning of Epiphany, January 6 which marks the end of christmas celebrations.
She has been part of Italian tradition since the 13th century, however some sources say it goes as far back as the 8th century.
If you love Befana you know the story of how she offered food and shelter for the night to the wisemen following the star.
She declined their invitation to join them on their journey to see the new born saviour as she had housework to do.
Later she regretted her decision and went to find the trio but to no avail, so she stops to leave treats or gifts at every childs house she can find in case it is the christ child.
●Befana is not a toy and is not meant to be played with by children and should not be hung too near any heat sources.
●Please allow for differences in device screens for representation of colour.
