This is a very uncommon instrument made in 1948. It is a fully functioning wire recorder with take-up reel and Rewind abilities. It also has a phonograph with a permanent steel needle as shown in the photos. The take-up Reel doubles as a order phonograph turntable. This was made by the wire recording Corporation of America which was an arm of RCA. This model WP includes the ability to record from the radio or from a microphone. It also allows you instead of using the speakers to broadcast the music from a record or from a wire recording onto a nearby Radio. The broadcast frequency is controlled by a screw accessible on the top. This unit can also be used as a PA unit simply amplifying the sound that comes through the microphone. This unique unit showcases some brilliant technological innovations from the late 1940s immediately before the Advent of magnetic tape Recording Technology. It is not tested.
