"Chat Noir", the famous 1896 Art Nouveau poster by Theophile Steinlen, has been "curiously" transformed into the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland. The author, Lewis Carroll, is appropriately given credit in the lettering, and the word "wonderland" is hidden in the red scrollwork disc behind the cat. All of my Disney images are entirely freehand paintings-no tracing, decoupage, etc. The egg rests on a round black wood support and is permanently mounted on a black stained wood base.
My egg creations make unique gifts for the one who has everything.
I've painted ostrich eggs for 30+ years. My artwork is original, freehand designs using acrylic paints - no decoupage or stickers. Glazing, blending and a focus on detail adds depth to produce realistic representations. Completed artwork is order protected with three coats of polyurethane varnish to give a glass-like shine and durable finish. To clean, use a soft, slightly damp cloth, as needed.
Ostrich eggshells are the largest and thickest shell in the world and averages about 15"" in diameter, 6" high and 1/16" thick. One ostrich egg is equal to approximately 24 chicken eggs and can withstand the weight of a 300-pound bird sitting on them. But don't worry.... no baby ostriches are hurt for my eggs. My supplier uses infertile eggs. They are drained through a hole in the bottom, cleaned, sanitized, and ready to paint!
