Aplheus Baker Hervey 1839-1931, founding member of the American Society of Microscopists, studied sea weeds, mosses and other less glamorous plant life. Well known for his slide preparations, he also produced a number of excellent folio style books combining poetry, art and botany. This 1899 edition, Boston, MA: L.C. Page & Company is in very good condition, some discoloring on green cloth covers and sunning. Text pages clean and unmarked, with only slight fading on blank sides of the ten water color drawings. Colored images in fantastic condition, tissue order missing on three images. Inscription on fly "alma Merry Xmas from Uncle Albert". Excellent condition copy of beautiful work.
