Needlefelted Romney Sheep. This is part of a series of heritage breed sheep that I have been working on. Crafted from Romney fiber and wool over a wire armature.
This needle felted sculpture was formed using a series of needles pierced into wool and other natural fibers over a wire armature. Some are finished with beeswax details. The wire armature allows them to be posed. Much of the wool used is locally sourced, some from Shetland sheep once raised here or from local farms, all is 100% natural fiber. All of the native breed sheep are finished with the fiber of the illustrated breed.
Each needle felted piece is unique and takes many order hours to make. They are inspired by animals who live or have lived here on the farm and in the NH landscape. Each sculpture is a labor of love; for the process, the subject matter, and the materials.
Needle felted sculptures are not toys and or intended for active play. They can easily be cleaned with canned air, used for cleaning keyboards.
